If you took a “before” picture of my life and health before health coaching you would see someone that was paralyzed by fear and uncertainty. I was petrified of making decisions and would almost beg anyone to make a decision for me. My “people pleaser” personality was like an epidemic in my life, in fact I would dare to say I even lacked an identity because of it. I struggled with lack of confidence in all areas of my life and was my happiest when someone else just told me what to do. I was going about life without any purpose or vision for my health, fitness, or wellness. In my opinion, I existed to help other people achieve their goals and to make their journey easy and comfortable.
The moment that changed everything for me, when I decided to reach for a better, healthier life will forever be engrained in my memory bank. I was recently separated from my husband of 8 years and was consumed with indecision and lack of confidence. I felt as if the only identity I had, being someone’s wife, now left me even more uncertain and lost. Then the most fortunate thing happened, my path crossed with a life coach. This is where the memorable moment comes in, during our first call together she asked me what was more important to invest in than myself and she followed with “I promise, you will be a different person after this journey.” That moment changed my life, I set out on a journey of self-discovery and made the decision to design the life of my dreams, and I never looked back.
I’m now living the best life, a life that I literally never dreamed of! By no means is it perfect, but I’m not striving for perfection, I’m striving for progress, to learn and grow each and every day. Three years ago when I started the journey of designing the life of my dreams, health and fitness were top priorities.
Not only am I in the best physical shape of my life, I am now a certified group fitness instructor, something I absolutely would never believed to be possible. Through fitness, I have found determination, confidence, and a sense accomplishment that I have never experienced before.
In addition to fitness, I am continuously learning how to integrate nutrient rich foods into my day to day life. This has not only increased my energy, but has shifted my mindset from finding the “right” diet, to making informed choices that are best for me.
Although fitness and nutrition have been important design elements to creating my best life, the most impactful shift has been learning to love myself.
Learning to stop taking the easy path of shame, guilt, and doubt, and shifting my mindset to one of self-love, admiration, and pride. Although this journey will never be complete, I am proud of the life I have created and am ecstatic to see what I can create next!
